- Profile
Oswestry has always been a market town; in fact the first charter was granted in 1262. From wool merchants who would bring their products from Wales into town the trades have changed but the local markets still bring shoppers from both sides of the border.
The Indoor Market is thriving, always attracting new stall holders and becoming a vibrant centre for local food, upcycled treasures. There is a public piano too so if you would like to come along to entertain our shoppers you will be very welcome. You can find Oswestry Tourist Information Centre in the indoor market. The perfect place for information for visitors and locals alike.
The outdoor street market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday come rain, come shine and stalls tumble from the market square, Bailey Head, down Bailey Street to Llwyd Mansions. Speciality outdoor markets take place on Fridays through the year and the last Friday in the month brings local artisans for their monthly visit to Oswestry.Don’t miss Oswestry Food and Drink Festival in July. Two days of street food and markets through Oswestry Bailey, Bailey Street and Cross Street.
