This week is Whittington’s Music festival 16th – 19th May so why not visit this wonderful village. There is a beautiful castle ruin with an excellent cafe, country pubs and swans and ducks to feed on the moat.

Whittington castle has changed hands many times one of its most famous owners was Fulke Fitzwarren who was outlawed by King John and is one of the grains of truth that hides in the Robin Hood legends, the village’s other famous son is of course Dick Whittington who was made Lord Mayor of London!
Whittington castle is now owned by a community trust and has many events over the year. Their living history groups visit often but coming up is a well being weekend 18-19th May the 16th June the Festival Players are coming to the castle to perform “The Tempest”, D Day commemoration and much more for all the family to enjoy!
Whilst you walk around the village the lovely churchyard is well worth a wander, amongst the flowers lies a grave to commemorate a survivor of the “Charge of the Light Brigade” a place to stop a while and contemplate.
Whittington is easily combined with a trip to Park Hall Countryside Experience or the British Ironwork Centre for a fun-filled day out at any age.
