We invite you to join Oswestry Borderland Tourism Ltd. (OBT).
OBT is a not for profit company limited by guarantee run by a volunteer board of directors. It is the only organisation that exists solely to promote Oswestry and The Welsh Borderlands to new and returning visitors.

About Oswestry Borderland Tourism

Oswestry Borderland Tourism, a membership organisation, is the official not-for-profit company limited by guarantee for Oswestry and the surrounding area.
The role of Oswestry Borderland Tourism is to support businesses by promoting the area as a visitor destination through this website (a comprehensive visitor guide) and integrated marketing campaigns. This helps our member businesses to achieve a higher profile than they would alone. Oswestry Borderland Tourism uses Visit Oswestry as its customer facing identity.

The role of Visit Oswestry

Our objective is to attract visitors to the area by highlighting the unique offering, of Oswestry and the surrounding area while representing and showcasing all business sectors in the visitor economy. By becoming a member, local businesses are contributing to promoting the destination through engaging marketing campaigns and being part of a comprehensive guide to the area. Year-round promotion drives visitors to the website where they then search for accommodation and things to do – it’s the place your business needs to be. Visit Oswestry helps the whole tourism industry communicate in an amplified and focused voice to national and international audiences.

Annual business membership costs from as little as £75 and brings many benefits. First of all, you will receive a listing on the Visit Oswestry website with links through to your own site. With 90% of people booking accommodation online and 74% of people using a VISIT website for holiday inspiration, it’s a key opportunity for your business to be in the right place at the right time. The fully-responsive website has over one hundred thousand users and over a quarter of a million page views a year. There are three listing levels enabling you to market your business: showcase awards, include images and video.

How Oswestry Borderland Tourism is funded

Oswestry Borderland Tourism is a not for profit company limited by guarantee. This means that your membership fee is always used to promote the area and your business. 
Funding comes from businesses paying membership, income from retail sales in the Tourist Information Centre and a service level agreement with Oswestry Town Council. 
Oswestry Borderland tourism is NOT run by Shropshire Council or Oswestry Town Council.

The TIC is open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 to 3pm. Membership lasts for one year from joining. 

What we do
Create and manage the ‘Visit Oswestry’ website, showing the best places to visit, stay, eat, drink & shop.
Showcase and promote local events on the website and social media.
Use social media to promote members, special offers and news.
Operate Oswestry Tourist Information Centre – offering face to face visitor advice, selling local souvenirs, crafts & books.
Create the free Oswestry Tourism Ambassador scheme – a free trainng programme.
Provide free guided tours of Oswestry Town.
Create and print Oswestry Town maps.
Create paid marketing campaigns to boost visitor awareness.
Send visitors’ newsletters with offers, competitions and news.
Provide business support to our members with regular newsletters.
Produce high quality promotional video content.
Represent Oswestry on other organisations to ensure Oswestry and the Borderlands are recognised as a vital part of the local visitor economy.
