English Tourism Week 2021

It’s #EnglishTourismWeek21 from 22nd – 31st May – what better time to celebrate our wonderful area? Locals will already know the fantastic local businesses, unique events, and stunning landscapes found in and around Oswestry, and visitors are sure to be surprised at how much there is to do in the area!

We’re Here for Tourism because of friendly and welcoming independent businesses – stroll through Oswestry on a market day and you will meet our local stallholders and friendly shopkeepers. Make sure to stop in one of our charming pubs or cafes for a welcoming drink and meal.

We’re Here for Tourism because of its importance to our heritage and culture. Oswestry and the Borderlands have a long and fascinating history that can be seen in iconic landmarks such as Old Oswestry Hillfort, Whittington Castle, and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Many of our beautiful landscapes have ties to history too – Offa’s Dyke Path runs alongside the English/Welsh border and makes for a great walk.

We’re Here for Tourism because of the surprising unique events held in Oswestry throughout the year. Oswestry Balloon Carnival sees the sky filled with brightly coloured hot air balloons, and the annual Food & Drink Festival is not to be missed! With music in the park throughout summer months, and regular exhibitions in our local art galleries, you’ll be surprised how much there is to see and do in Oswestry!
