Garden Centre, Charity Shop, Café and Restaurant at Derwen College
Derwen Marketplace in Gobowen, near Oswestry, is an unique setting of retail outlets where students from Derwen College, who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, gain vocational work skills.
Our retail outlets include a Garden Centre, Restaurant, Café and award-winning Charity Shop.
By visiting Derwen’s Marketplace you can directly support our students’ learning. Customers to Derwen Marketplace enable students to learn essential work skills via customer service, retail and hospitality experiences.
The Garden Centre & Gift Shop offers seasonal plants, seeds, gifts, cards and gardening tools. You will also find plenty of helpful horticultural advice from staff and students.
Look out for our range of products made on-site by Derwen College hospitality & food students, including chutneys, jams, cakes and breads. The Garden Centre & Gift Shop also stocks a range of products made by local artisan producers.
There is also the Walled Garden to enjoy. Tended by horticulture students, it may provide inspiration for your own garden. Plants you see in the Walled Garden can be bought at the Garden Centre.
Pop in to our award-winning charity shop – The Vintage Advantage. The charity shop has a range of pre-loved clothes, accessories, household wares, books and craft items. Students from our retail pathway work here. Stock is updated every day so there is always opportunity to find a bargain.
We have two spots where you can enjoy refreshments after all your shopping – The Orangery Restaurant and the Walled Garden Café. The Orangery Restaurant is open for mid-morning refreshments, and lunches. Enjoy a cup of tea and homemade cake or lunch in the Walled Garden Café. Sit inside, or enjoy our outdoor seating area where there is a children’s play area too.
Derwen College’s retail outlets at Derwen Marketplace are open daily.
