Anniversary of the birth of Wilfred Owen

On March 18th 1893 Wilfred Owen, the poet was born at Plas Wilmot in Oswestry.
His family had lived in Oswestry for many years and they would recognise many of the Victorian buildings that you can see in Oswestry now.
The new Guildhall was also opened in 1893  – Wilfred’s mother Susan may have watched the building going up as she did her weekly shopping.
You can find out more about the Oswestry that the Owen family would have known by following The Wilfred Owen walking trail around town.
